Xmap is easily installed as any Joomla component. That should be done through your site's backend. Navigate to the Joomla administrator login page:
Once you log in, you should open the Extensions -> Install/Unistall section and click on the [Browse..] button in the Upload Package File section. Navigate to the same Xmap file you have downloaded earlier and select it. Then click on the [Upload File & Install] button to start the installation.
At the end you will see a notification that the component integration was successfully completed.
At this point, Xmap is installed and ready to use with the default settings.

But how do you generate a Sitemap? And where is it

difficulty but don't see anything that indicates a sitemap has been generated.
The Extensions tab shows that Content Plugin 1.0.1 has been installed.
So, how do you generate a sitemap and where is it?
Okay, I found it!

counterintuitive to me. Perhaps the file locations could be displayed on the
Sitemaps tab at the bottom of each sitemap's box.

Same question here. I have installed the plugin but on the frontpage for example
i don't see anything changed. No sitemap icon or anything else. Maybe a little
help from the developer?

to view the sitemap, you have to create a menu item that links to the XMAP
component.
Why Hide how to use this???
by James Harrison 2008-07-17 15:12
telling people how to use it?? I am totally confused.
The very simple fact that you NEED TO LINK IT IN THE MENUis vital to get the site map to work, yet you don't mention it except in the
help forum AFTER someone asks??
Please put this promenanty in the documentation.
