Publishing your site map in your site( 372 Votes )To show your site map in your site, you need to create a menu item pointing to Xmap component in your desired menu. My component XYZ is not in the site map, Why?( 53 Votes )Xmap generates the site map based on your menus structure. So, if your component XYZ is not listed in any menu, Xmap won't include it. Create a menu item pointing to your component in any of the menus you add to your site map. Where is my XML sitemap?( 83 Votes )The XML sitemap is generated dynamically every time it's URL is accessed. You can see what the URL to your XML sitemap is in your Xmap preferences: in the backend, go to Components -> Xmap and select preferences at the Options menu, in the upper-right corner of the site map. What are Xmap extensions for?( 34 Votes )Almost every component generates links to its own content. The Corresponding Xmap extensions make it possible to expand each of those components content in your site map view. Where can I find the extensions for my components?( 27 Votes )In our downloads section you can find many extensions. If you are having trouble finding the ones you need, maybe a search in Google could help you. XML SitemapWhat is the XML site map?( 19 Votes )Sitemaps are an easy way for webmasters to inform search engines about pages on their sites that are available for crawling. In its simplest form, a Sitemap is an XML file that lists URLs for a site along with additional metadata about each URL (when it was last updated, how often it usually changes, and how important it is, relative to other URLs in the site) so that search engines can more intelligently crawl the site. More info: http://www.sitemaps.org/ What is the "priority" parameter for?( 25 Votes )The priority is the way you can tell the crawlers which pages of YOUR site are more important to you. This doesn't affect in any way your pages against the pages of others sites.

by markfrostuk 2009-08-14 04:20
www.redundancyanswers.co.uk. The xml map works fine (over 10k urls) but the html
link just thinks for a bit and then returns a blank page with no html on it at
all. Any ideas?

must go to preferences and copy the proper link for submitting to google etc.
Once you arrive there with this info, you will be on your way. Excellent
extension.
XMap is great stuff. Thank you.

viewable.
Thanks
Getting stuck on 'Using Xmap'
by trusaac 2010-01-17 15:11
couldn't understand what to do at the 'Using Xmap' stage. I hope the following
helps others.
I eventually found a link that explained it:
http://www.joomlatraining.com/newsletters/how-to-c reate-a-joomla-sitemap/. This
basically gives 3 stages to 'Using Xmap':
First: Modify the default settings (as required) by:-
1. Clicking on Components>XMap
2. Under the words, 'New Sitemap', pick the menus that you want to appear in the
site map.
3. Under 'options' (at top right of the box)make changes as required.
Second: make the site map appear as a page on your site. To do this you (as it
says in the Xmap documentation) 'create a menu item pointing to Xmap component
in your desired menu'. Hence:-
1. Click 'Menus' and select a menu within which you want to create the Xmap menu
item.
2. Click 'New'.
3. From the list that appears under 'Select Menu Item Type', find 'XMap' and
select it.
4. In the 'Menu Item' that appears, type in a 'title', set the 'order' and (if
wanted) 'under Parameters (System)' set a page title.
5. Click save.
Third: submit the site map to search engines (see link above).
