FEATURE REQUEST | Related Items, Keywords

Hello,
first of all my congrats to your efforts and those great free modules!

I am looking for a good related items display... a really underated area in the extension area. I noticed your vast amount of options in filtered and global news. I wonder if you could add something like a keyword comparison, which makes it possible to show related content...

I appreciated the cat/sec occlusion... that is missing in the common relation extensions!

Is it possible to add something like this?

I noticed, you setup a new DEMO
Do your Keywords compare UPPER and lower case words? That would be an enormous help and additional criteria...

One thing i really miss in the standard related items module...
Limit the comparison to specific Cat/Sec numbers! (i really need to display related stuff of a different Cat/Sec... Than the relation is much more versatile and not tied to the same backend hierarchy.

I really much appreciate your work and the cat/sec occlusion, but the things I mentioned above would nearly make it perfect

maybe it approaches more to what you are looking for. Our Filtered News mean principally by the current section and category, so it does't make any sense to specify any sec or cat, I think

So far... thank YOU for integrating the metakeys anyway!

I know, your auto cat/sec selection is THE important feature, and it collides somehow with my suggestion... i was only looking from the relation-viewpoint, and that its not enough to relate in the same cat/sec (I mean, searching in the same cat/sec is almost the same as displaying random content with a little "plus" IMHO

As far as i know, there is no way to automate cross-references or build a relation across the typical joomla hierarchy... maybe your are going to develop such solutions

For example, I want to have an area, it contains the articles from section 2 , and all the articles within my website containing the metakey "abc", and ordered by added time...

Maybe interesting for you (now with component). Excerpt from the sort and display options:
...Order: "Title Alphabetical", "Recently Added First", "Oldest First", "Most Matches First", "Article Manager Order", or "Keyword Alphabetical". The module keeps a count of how many keyword phrases matched with each article. The "Most Matches First" option sorts the list with the articles with the most matches shown first. The "Keyword Alphabetical" shows each keyword phrase followed by all of the articles that matched on that phrase.
Article Create Date: Whether to hide or show the article create date after the article title. For example, "Cats and Dogs - 25.03.08" ...

Thanks so much for your reply. I checked the links you provided, looks like those are more of a related articles module(component). Which means I should open an article first, and the module will show related articles based on the metakey match, right?
What I need is:
I can define one (or some) keywords (for example, 'music') in the module parm, and if I have 100 articles in the jos_content table, all the articles containing the metakey 'music' can be shown in this module. Further, there are some other parms to refine the results, such as count, order by creation date, etc...
Even more, I also want to combine some section or category articles with the above filtered article which containing the pr-edefined keywords...
Simply say, the filtered rule is something like below:
select * from jos_content where (sectionid='XX' and categoryid='XXX') or (metakey like 'pre-defined keyword')

I do believe it is easy to add such an option based on some existing modules... Since I am not familar with php, so need your kind help ...

That new menuitem based setup gives you a sort of pre-defined selection.

Do you want a user defined selection OR do you want a pre-defined display?
