Show Unauthorized Links not responding

The "Show Unauthorized Links" option does not respond to any settings in the options of the content plugin. Unauthorized links are always displayed in the HTML and XML sitemap, irrespective of the setting.

Does anyone have this working properly on their system or is this truly a bug?
