News sitemap bug with xmap 1.2.5

Postby capeinfo » Mon Dec 28, 2009 5:37 am

Hi

Thanks for the new version. I am still getting the error from Google when I submit the News sitemap:
"Missing XML tag
This required tag is missing. Please add it and resubmit."

The News sitemap is http://capeinfo.com/index.php?option=com_xmap&sitemap=1&view=xml&news=1

The ordinary sitemap works 100% and is http://capeinfo.com/index.php?option=com_xmap&sitemap=1&view=xml

Any suggestions on how to fix this?
Thanks and kind regards
Carl

I've just loaded Xmap 1.2.6 and I get the following error message from Google when I try to load the News Sitemap:

Errors 3
Missing XML tag
This required tag is missing. Please add it and resubmit.
Parent tag: urlset
Tag: url
Problem detected on: Jan 2, 2010

I'd really appreciate help in sorting this out

I'm having the same problem with Google rejecting my site map, unfortunately I didn't keep a copy of the error message but I think it was the same as the above post. This is the url; http://www.waveconsultancyandtraining.c ... 1&view=xml
Thanks for your help

Hi, I think you are getting the error about the missing tag because your news sitemap is empty. Probably you don't have any article newer than 3 days old.

Could you please access your news sitemap and make sure it's not empty?

Hi Guilleva, there is content less than three days old and I have just created a new article and menu item but it still does not work.

You can see the News result at http://capeinfo.com/index.php?option=co ... xml&news=1

Thanks
Carl

Hi, the news sitemap only include native Joomla's articles. Make sure your article is included in your regular sitemap and it's less than 3 days old (publication date).

Hi, I too have a problem, a few days ago Google Webmaster Tools began telling me there's a syntax error on line 508. I resent the sitemap but nothing changed. Therefore I installed the new version Xmap 1.2.6. Same thing. Google keeps saying there's an error... :|

I'd be really grateful If you could help!
Thanks
