Excluding items from the front-end doesn't work
At first: this really is a great extension for Joomla and I do use it for several sites with success. Now it's the first time, I got into trouble with it:
I use Joomla 1.6.1 with XMap 2.0 RC1 and I too want to exclude some menuitems from the sitemap and so I did log in at the front-end as Super Administrator and the Sitemap is shown here with green checks behind every item. So far, so good. When I did click onto one of them to unpublish it, this didn't change anything. I did try it with several browsertypes (Firefox, InternetExplorer and Opera, always the latest versions). Then I took a look into the database with phpMyAdmin and found the table, where to exclude the items (jos_xmap_sitemap >display >edit). Here at "excluded_items" "Null" has been checked: I did assume, this will be the problem and I did uncheck it. This didn't work, when I again did try it to uncheck the item from the Joomla front-end and so I had the idea to manually write the value (Item-ID) in the corresponding field here (I was pretty shure this will be a solution!), but unfortunally this didn't work.
Has anyone an idea how to fix that problem?
Another hint - I don't think, this has to do with my problem, but probably it makes sense for the author of this great Xmap-extension - when I did open the Extension Manager of the Xmap-component, this message did occur:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /(...)/administrator/components/com_xmap/models/extensions.php on line 148

Re: Excluding items from the front-end doesn't work
I confirm the problem ...
Is this a know bug by the developers ?
It seems that XMap list menu's and categories as separate entries in the sitemap.
If they are directly linked to another then the sitemap contains a lot of double.
SO deleting them manually in the frontend with superadmin rights would a fast work-around. ... pitty thta it doesn't work.
If I set in the content_plugin the Category expand option to never .. then XMap lists only the menu's (no double entries), but then the articles connected to a category don't show in the sitemap ...
So how to get menu and articles listed without the category ?
Hopefully we get an answer ...

Re: Excluding items from the front-end doesn't work
Same problem here.
Plus: The problem with excluding links from the front end only is a big workflow draw back. This is a major conceptual flaw I'd say because at first not every website has a front end login and second admins are not likely to work in the front end.
May be Guillermo can jump in when he gets a chance and comment on our concerns.

Thanks, but to me your post doesn't make any sense since it leads to nirvana ...
