xmap2.2-joomla1.73 and multilanguage site
I want to point your attention to this thread:
http://forum.joomla.org/viewtopic.php?f=617&t=675374
And my post further down (username: EvanGR)
In summary: when I select in Joomla to not use a prefix for the default language, the sitemap for that language is not found in google webmaster tools. The other sitemaps for other languages are ok.
I can see the sitemap in the browser, just not webmaster tools.
Thanks!

Yes. The sitemap is now accepted by google webmaster tools.
However I had to use the patched language filter for that. In the original joomla 1.7.3 installation, this problem still happens. If it's something you could fix, or warn about in xmap or in a sticky post here, it would help you from getting less problem reports.
Thanks!
