Cannot uninstall XMAP

I am upgrading to Joomla 2.5 and getting some errors with xmap. I would like to uninstall, and then reinstall, but it is not allowing me to do that automatically.

If I
1. delete all the files from admin/comp, components, plugins etc.
2. go to the database using phpadmin and search by xmap, and delete all the entries that come up

I am not an expert, and do not want to corrupt my database. Is this ok to do?
