The problem is with the escapeURL function, so I'd guess line 53 should be changed from:

Yes, but for me it is taking a little bit longer than usual for those pages to be indexed (nothing related to XMAP, I guess)

I have utf8 encoded menu and aliases and face the same problem. Google reports error...

I don't see any problem with your XML...
