Google Webmaster Tools Error: Missing XML Tag

Xmap 2.0-rc1 dated 2011-04-10 01:00:00-05

Error from Google Webmaster Tools states:

Missing XML tag
This required tag is missing. Please add it and resubmit.

The sitemap does have data.

I turned off compression but no difference.

Please help with a solution.

I was also having the same problem and I got around it by making a Redirect in the .htaccess file...

Redirect /sitemap.xml http://yourdomain.com/index.php?option=com_xmap&sitemap=1&view=xml

Then I resubmitted my site map as sitemap.xml rather than xmap's link.

Joomla 2.5.9, xmap 2.3
Submitted xml link - /index.php?option=com_xmap&view=xml&tmpl=component&id=1 to google webmaster tool.
It says invalid xml file, and the site is not indexed.
How do I fix this problem? On my site, the xml, and html files look ok.
