xmap sitemap shown as flat list

Postby thanili » Mon Aug 04, 2008 7:12 pm

hello gyus,

i have just installed your component for a website i am currenlty developing... I have not installed any extensions since all my menu link are:

Link - Content Item
Table - Content Category

so i assumed that no extra extensions are needed in order to be displayed correctly (expanded tree structure, just as your demo)... I created an item on my menu in order to have the sitemap on the front-end. The problem is that the list of the sitemap is flat vertical with not at all any tree structure (see attached image)...

I also noticed that when i deleted some unpublished menu items they still remain in the sitemap (even after uninstalling and reinstalling the xmap com.)...

Any ideas or workarounds?

i have installed xmap 1.1 for joomla 1.0.x

Hi, the sitemap being showed as a flat list, is due a CSS issue. Check your styles for UL list elements.

About the deleted menu items, try cleaning the cache of your sitemap. This is done in the Options menu of the sitemap in the backend of Xmap.

Hello again!

concerning the cache issue (some deleted and unpublished items are shown in the sitemap list) i cleaned the cache, i also checked the table jos_menu to see that indeed the menu items there are only the one which i have in my mainmenu module...

I should mention that in order to publish my mainmenu module i use the swMenuPro component... I would like to ask in what a manner the xmap component is producing its list... It does not read from table jos_menu? Do not know, the sure is that cleaning the cache did not helped...

I will check the CSS issue and upgrade the post... When you say "Check your styles for UL list elements" you mean my template's CSS file. If i will find there any LU list elements i will have to override them my the ones which xmap is using?

thanx in advance..

Hello,

I'm having the same exact issue.

I have fresh install of xmap 1.2 and I haven't changed anything in it. Can you tell me what changes I need to make in the xmap css so that the map appears as a tree structure and not a flat list?

Thank you!

Same issue :

joomla 1.5.6
Xmap 1.2
Simple Image gallery
Flash Rotator

http://www.hippocampes.com/sitemap

when i modify the CSS and save it, nothing happens :(, when i modify and upload it, replacing the actual one, the changes reflect in the CSS but nothing happens on the page.

Hi, that's an issue with your template, in sorry, I cannot help you with that, please talk with your webmaster or with the one who made your template.

In the case of http://www.hippocampes.com/sitemap, the file http://www.hippocampes.com/templates/hi ... /reset.css is giving a margin of 0px and a padding of 0px to almoslt everything, including the lists.

well actually i'm the one making the template and the stuff :) but learning css with mistakes and stuff.

the reset.css is just resetting all the data before i go ahead overriding stuff but i'll look into it to avoid those kind of problems :).

thanks for having helped me out. i'll come back if i find more ;).

Hello,

for people having problems with xmap displaying in flat list style, I found the problem, at least on my sites:

the xmap.css has classes that are wrong. If you change all of the instances of .sitemap to .xmap, the css styling will appear properly in your map...with indented sub pages displayed properly.

Hope this helps.

I think that the xmap.css had some old classes in it that haven't been changed for some reason.

At any rate, this change fixed my maps that were flat.

cheers,

works perfectly :) thanks a lot.

another thing i noticed is that when i did Save for the css file after having updated it in the admin backend is that it created a folder called XMAP in my css folder with a css file called ".css"
the structure looking now like this :

com_xmap / css / xmap / .css

there is still the xmap.css file in /css though.

Is there a way to override XMAP layout like other components and modules or is it "blackbox" coded ?
