google errors- too many urls please submit multi site maps.

Hi this extention is great !! ,and we don't want to let it go.
We have had no problem with xmap with over 26,000 items in our virtuemart site.
We presently have pumped it up to just under 40,000 and we started geting errors from google to many urls and slowing of the map. How can we limit the urls and submit several sitemaps to google and other search engines due to the fact that almost all of the items are in the one virtuemart component, we can't get the urls down enough by normal duplicating site map as normal. Has anyone run into this problem?
Please help it looks like a cruel sitemap world outside of xmap.

Is their any way to limit the urls from one componant like vurtuemart ?
google stopped indexing my site. we tried some of the normal adding ?=limit=12000
but wasnt able to get anything to work. someone help please.
