Content 1.0.1 - Disable expanding of categories on click

Just wondering if there is a way to disable the menu displaying the child links when the menu is clicked. We have a menu linking to a page that has the categories on it, but the menu itself displays the child links as well (seems kind of redundant to have the page of child articles and the referring menu to as well).

The attached pictures show what I am talking about. We do not want the menu to expand on click, just simply to go to the page.
