Can't exclude Weblinks from xml sitemap

I am running Xmap 2.3.2 on a Joomla 2.5.8 site. Aside from the "blank white page" issue widely reported in other posts (and seemingly unresolved), I also have a problem with excluding menu items from the xml sitemap. I am using SEF URLs.

I have one menu item pointing to the standard Joomla weblinks component. It lists a number of weblink categories in the public front-end, providing users with links to other related sites. I have set the menu item to "no index, nofollow" but the weblink categories are still listed in the xml site map (although not in the html version).

In addition, these particular xml links are translated incorrectly by the Google search engine and reported as as Error 500.
