xmap optimize for a large number of articles?

I havea large number of articles link in the site map.
(daily above 1000 links)

so after a month the sitemap page will be so huge And probably will be broken Because of a shortage of server memory.

Is there any way to pagination xamp?

joomla version: 1.5

at least I wana have in the sitemap last 50000 articles....is it posible?
