i use german translation by default.

But "Umlaut"-letters are shown wrong.

Is there any solution?

Hi, are you using the Joomla 1.5 native version?

If not, then you should change the charset of your german.php file inside /components/com_zoom/lib/language directory. It should be in utf-8 format.

Now, I only support the native version where I have fixed a lot of bugs in the previous version.

Hi, that problem with the special chars is fixed in the native version (also others bugs and problems). If you don't need a native version and that's the only problem you are having, then you could try fixing the german.php file.
