I'm sorry, I don't know what else can I do for you. I'd like to take a look at your backend and try to install it by myself.

Also, you can try enabling/disabling the FTP layer in your global joomla configuration to see if that makes any difference!

I tried the ftp layer, it doesn't work.
I cant give access to you right now, but I can tomorrow.

you need to extract the files to the a directory and install it that method, i used it without the ftp later since i can never get that damn thing to work - and php upload works fine for me!

problem was not the permisssions 777 or 644, but rather the owner - using webmin I updated the owner from root (which webmin uploads as) to my account name.

Since my server has cPanel, it would be the username i changed it to.
