Errors while uploading files

Postby danboarder » Tue Aug 26, 2008 10:32 am

I have tried this on two different types of systems both running Jooma 1.5.6.

The errors I receive on shared hosting:

"Warning: move_uploaded_file(/home/(hidden)/images/storiestest/DSC_5829.JPG) [function.move-uploaded-file]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/(hidden)/components/com_zoom/lib/toolbox.class.php on line 288

Warning: move_uploaded_file() [function.move-uploaded-file]: Unable to move '/usr/local/tmp/phpEWQWli' to '/home/(hidden)/images/storiestest/DSC_5829.JPG' in /home/(hidden)/components/com_zoom/lib/toolbox.class.php on line 288
Medium Name Error type
DSC_5829.JPG Medium could not be moved."

Error I received on the VPS:

"Medium Name Error type
DSC_7096.jpg Medium could not be moved."

After trying this: http://joomla.vargas.co.cr/forum?view=t ... 84&p=1699& the error on the shared hosting disappeared and it looked like it had uploaded a picture but the picture will not show up and errors like this appear while browsing the component:

"Warning: imagejpeg() [function.imagejpeg]: Unable to open '/home/(hidden)/images/zoom/test/viewsize/snipshot_d4plk6xundv.jpg' for writing: No such file or directory in /home/(hidden)/components/com_zoom/lib/toolbox.class.php on line 646"

The error on the VPS did not change after trying that fix.

The VPS has the PHP limit set to 75mb so there should be no problem there.
For the shared hosting I had to use FTP to upload the zOOm install file and install it from the server because the PHP limit cannot be set (limit is 2mb).

I also tried uploading numerous sizes/formats of images (ranging from 50k to 1.5mb gif, jpg, png) and I receive the same errors.

I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the component multiple times.

It seems to me that zOOm is trying to use the servers tmp directory (which it probably does not have access to) instead of the Joomla tmp directory.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi,

Did you changed the default images folder to "images/storiestest/"?

Can you check if your web server has the rights to write into that folder?

ZMG doesn't decide which tmp folder to use while uploading a file, that's a server/php setting. All ZMG does is take the file from there and move it to the final destination. In the case for the shared hosting to /home/(hidden)/images/storiestest/

Yes it does have rights to that folder. I temporarily tried 777 rights to be sure, and also tried leaving the folder to the default.
I have multiple installs of Jooma 1.0.15 with zOOm on both of these systems and they work just fine.
Also Phoca Gallery works fine in both of these installs of Joomla 1.5.6.

Hi, could you please try deleting the images folder completely, download the package again, and then reinstall the component?

I have tried that multiple times and it seems to make no difference.

The new package doesnt work, it doesnt show any galleries, the frontend gives error's and you can't add galleries or images either.

Ive just seen now, any new gallery you create the permission that is issued to the folder is 511. it is also not adding any thumbnail or viewsize folders as well as the index.html to prevent direct access.

this is the error issued
Code: Select all
[01-Sep-2008 18:35:10] PHP Warning:  imagejpeg() [<a href='function.imagejpeg'>function.imagejpeg</a>]: Unable to open '/home/(removed)/public_html/images/zoom/GIAJZK/viewsize/DSC00111.JPG' for writing: No such file or directory in /home/(removed)/public_html/components/com_zoom/lib/toolbox.class.php on line 645

Okay.. I can upload images but now have other issues.

If I change any settings I get this error (shared hosting):

"Warning: include_once(/home/(hidden)/components/com_zoom/etc/zoom_config.php) [function.include-once]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/(hidden)/administrator/components/com_zoom/admin.zoom.php on line 47

Warning: include_once() [function.include]: Failed opening '/home/(hidden)/components/com_zoom/etc/zoom_config.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/(hidden)/administrator/components/com_zoom/admin.zoom.php on line 47

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/(hidden)/components/com_zoom/lib/zoom.class.php on line 1232"

and the settings get erased (everything with an input text box is erased).

On the VPS I do not get an error after changing the settings but they are still erased.

I tried editing the zoom_config.php file manually which does work... until I change the path (which I need to be able to do), and then I am unable to create galleries.

One note is on the last version I could change settings with no issues. But I was unable to upload photos (as you know).

Also one more thing.. I would compress it a bit more, I used Peazip (for windows and linux) with format set to "zip", method set to "BZip2", compression set to "Ultra", dictionary set to "900kb" and passes set to "10". This gets the file size under 2mb (for your current release). This is good for people who cannot set their PHP upload limit and are limited to 2mb.

Hi, thanks for your post, I have found the error with the settings file. Please replace your file /components/com_zoom/lib/zoom.class.php with the one in the attached file. I have re-compressed the file with winrar using the best compression setting and now is under the 2 MB, I'm going to try other options like Peazip as well, thanks for the hint ;)

If you change the default images folder, make sure that the new one exists and have the correct privileges.
