Major Issue with Zoom Gallery Component

Postby agosling » Thu Apr 09, 2009 12:40 pm

I have installed what I believe is the latest version of the Zoom Gallery component, zOOm Media Gallery 2.5.1 RC4 wk08. It installed fine, and is great to setup galleries and uploaded images. My problem occurs when I included the content onto a page and access it. After a very short period of time is am no longer able to access the site, I also cannot even ping the site, and it affects all sites that I host with AusWeb Hosting. The only way to resolve the issue is to reset my ADSL, wireless or what ever connection I am using.

I use a Mac with Firefox, but I have tested with a PC with IE7 and well as safari on the Mac. It isn't a machine issue, because it affects all machines on whatever network is being used.

I thought it may have been an issue with the installation of Joomla or Zoom, so I set up a clean install of Joomla and only installed Zoom, once again the backed works perfectly, but go to the actual site and view images and it shuts the connection down.

One point is that the connection is only affect to theses sites, all other Internet connections are fine.

I am hoping I have explained the issue clearly enough, it is nothing like I have experienced in many years of dealing with websites and networks and I am hoping that someone else has had a similar problem and can help me solve this problem. Zoom just looks so cool and is so easy to use it would be a shame to not be able to use it.

Hi, it doesn't looks line a problem with ZMG, I never had a similar problem and I don't see how ZMG can affect your ADSL modem!

It's you site online? Maybe you can send me the url and I'll try to reproduce the problem!

I agree that it is an extremely strange issue.

I have tested it with both ADSL and wireless connections, I have used Mac's and PC's, IE, firefox and Safari. I thought it may have been the virtual server setup so I set up a new one with only Zoom Gallery installed. The issue still exists. It is almost like Zoom Gallery blocks IP of the server. When the issue occurs I can still connect to any site except those on the same server, and it impacts all machines on the network and can only be corrected by resetting the link.

The test site is:
http://122.252.5.210/~warwick2/

There are only 3 images in the gallery but normally the issue will occur after looking at two or three images. It is very predictable and repeatable.

Any help you can give would be great appreciated. I wold love to use Zoom Gallery as it looks great, but at the moment it is unusable to me.

Hi, I have confirmed that issue, but I have no idea where the problem is! Can install another image component and upload a few images to see if that happens only with ZMG?

Thanks!
