"Most Hits" the past X days

I absolutely love the Global News module, but I am missing one feature: I want to be able to show the 5 articles that have the most hits the past 7 days. The current "most hits" article ordering takes all the old articles and many of them aren't really relevant anymore.

Isn't it possible to tweak the "most hits" ordering directly in the code to make this possible?
