Unsupported file format - Please Help

Postby abhinay » Sat Feb 02, 2008 1:38 am

Dear All,

I have been submitting the url for my website's sitemap to google for almost a month now and every time google gives me an error telling me

"Unsupported file format
Your Sitemap does not appear to be in a supported format. Please ensure it meets our Sitemap guidelines and resubmit."

I must have resubmitted the link at least 25 times and every time i get the same error.

I thought its due to Xmap 1.0.3 so i upgraded to 1.0.4, but the error continues. i am currently using joomla 1.5 stable and the sitemap link is present in the Top Menu.

I guess google is looking for a link that ends in .xml or a .html and my sitemap link turns out to be
http://www.trendzmatter.com/sitemap

Is this the reason why google is reporting an error?

Request you to please help me solve this problem.

Regards,
Abhinay Desai

Hi, you need to send google the xml url, not that one. To find your xml url, click on the upper-rigth blue arrow on your sitemap and then click over preferences.
