Howto install Zoom MG for Joomla 1.5

Installation of Zoom for Joomla 1.5 gave some troubles, so I made an overview of how I did it.

Prepare
Download Zoom for Joomla 1.5
- Download the file zOOm_for_Joomla_1.5.zip from http://joomla.vargas.co.cr to a directory of your choice

Enable legacy plugins
- On the Joomla Admin page goto: Menu/Extensions/Plugin Manager
- Find the System - Legacy plugin and enable it

Change memory limit for scripts
- Find files wampphpphp.ini and wampApache2inphp.ini in your wamp install directory
- Edit both files: change memory_limit = 8M to memory_limit = 15M
- Note: This is an installation in the Wamp server; for other servers, find the relevant php.ini files and make similar changes to them

Install

Install the Zoom add on
- On the Joomla Admin page goto: Menu/Extension/Install_Uninstall
- Under Upload Package File - Package File click Browse
- Navigate to the downloaded Zoom zip file and click Open
- Click Upload File & Install

Your done.

Possible errors

- Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 2067645 bytes) in C:Program Fileswampwwwjoomla-15rc3librariesjoomlafilesystemarchivezip.php on line 285
Cause: The maximum amount of memory a script may consume is too low
Solution: Edit C:Program Fileswampphpphp.ini and C:Program FileswampApache2inphp.ini (or any other relevant php.ini files) and change memory_limit = 8M to memory_limit = 15M or higher if necessary

- Your Extension appears to be written for an older version of Joomla!. You must enable the System - Legacy Plugin in the Plugin Manager if you wish to complete this task.
Cause: the System - Legacy plugin is disabled
Solution: Enable the plugin by going to Menu/Extension/Plugin Manager and enabling System - Legacy

:huh: I was under the impression that this extension was for Joomla! 1.5. However, having to enable Legacy Support within Joomla! to install and use this extension suggests that it is an extension for Joomla! 1.0.x and not 1.5.

Legacy Support: Provides Legacy Support for older versions of Joomla!

This is a version for Joomla 1.5 with legacy mode enabled. Legacy mode adds compatibility for some extensions made for Joomla 1.0.X.

Can't install it.
I use Joomla 1.5 final, with legacy mode enabled.
When installing it makes me wait something like 30 or more seconds and gives me blanks screen.

Any ideas what am I doing wrong?

Hi, no, that's weird, I have tried to reproduce your problem without success. Can you see any error on your php error log?

Hi all.
I have same problem like loplo. Folder permission have change, Legacy Turn On but when want install Zoom in 20-30 second my window be just blank. :huh:
