Cannot install in Joomla 1.7

Initially, the component loaded and I was able to create a site map but I could not select it in the menu link. I had the plugins enabled and tried various ways to set the menu item to load the site map but it would not work.

I uninstalled and reinstalled but things got worse. The Xmap was not showing up in the components in the back end. Then I found another forum post where you listed how to drop tables using sql and did that. Reinstalled but now get this error listing:

Can you help?

I tried reinstalling without uninstalling and got this message:

Error building Admin Menus
JFolder: :delete: Could not delete folder. Path: .\tmp\install_4e56c70daa308\packages\install_4e56c70e171eb\admin\language

When I go into the MySQL database, there are no table associated with xmap. Why not? After all the installing I was worried that there would be too many, not too few. Please help

Are you using J1.6 or 1.7? Errors building admin menu was a known issue in J1.6. if using 1.6 try upgrading to 1.7 we've installed and un-installed xmap several time on 1.7 with no problems.

Same issue here. Using 1.7.
