Missing menu items after Xmap update

Postby yorb » Wed Nov 16, 2011 10:40 pm

Hi, first of all: indispensable plugin, thank you. Been using it for several years.

Turns out, I hadn't updated it in several years, and was running 1.1. I only use it for basic site structure so I didn't need any of the new plugins you've added (1.1 only had one plugin I think), but I thought it might be nice to overhaul the site map so I upgraded my local dev environment to 1.2.14, and got the SQL error (solved with the helpful SQL lines in this post: http://joomla.vargas.co.cr/en/forum?view=topic&f=1&t=3007).

The second problem is that the first 5 menu items of my top level menu aren't in the sitemap anymore. I tried uninstalling Xmap, wiping its db tables, and reinstalling. Same issue. I'm running Joomla! 1.5.24. I found in another thread that there can be problems with Superfish menu, which is what I'm using, so I changed the Xmap option from 'mod_mainmenu' to 'mod_superfishmenu' but it didn't fix it. I also tried uninstalling the Content plugin, because someone else said that worked for them. Didn't fix it.

The other menus seem to show up fine, it's just my main menu that only shows the last item, which is the only item without children (it does, however, have articles, since its a blog layout).

Any ideas? The missing items are gone from the XML sitemap as well, and don't appear even if I create a new sitemap with only that menu. Another clue is that it seems to ignore exclusion rules (If I tried to exclude that one item that shows up, it still shows up, with all of its articles listed underneath it).

Help! Thanks.

It happens some times, i think that it's only when you upgrade from an old version of Xmap. :(

The other menus seem to show up fine, it's just my main menu that only shows the last item, which is the only item without children (it does, however, have articles, since its a blog layout).

It would be helpful if you attach a screenshot of your mainmenu (then one with the problems) structure. (the menu manager view in the backend) I'm interested in see the menutypes foreach menu item.

Another clue is that it seems to ignore exclusion rules (If I tried to exclude that one item that shows up, it still shows up, with all of its articles listed underneath it).

That's the expected result if you are still logged in as a super admin in the front end...

Hi, I have a similar problem - only main menu items not indexing - but this happened with a recent xmap version. Upgrading to the latest made no difference, even with a clean install. Everything was working so perfectly that I don't need to check it at all often.

I created separate sitemaps and the others all work, only main menu shows nothing at all. I attach a PDF of the large main menu -
mainmenu.pdf
main menu structure
(153.02 KiB) Downloaded 322 times

I'm sure it must be something in the menu itself and would be really grateful for any help.

Thanks for a really great component.

It looks like opening a menu item and then saving it (no changes necessary) seems to allow Xmap to be able to see it. If a parent item in the menu is still hidden, then it won't show until the parent item is opened/saved, but then both of them show up. The weird thing is, there's no modified date for menu items so there's really nothing in the sql that would be changing.

Any ideas? Kind of a pain to go through every menu item and open and save it :P But hey, at least it's a workaround!
