Xmap 2.2.1 on Joomla 2.5.4 - no xmap listed

Installed Xmap 2.2.1 on Joomla 2.5.4 but unable to see it listed in Components. I can see all the plugins and have activated the content plugin. I do have admintools tools and tried to create a htaccess file with xmap in the exceptions list but still no joy. I have tried uninstalling xmap and installing and still no change. Any suggestions ?

Install packages can't sometimes assign the extension's id as parent_id in the table jos_menu.
If you have phpMyAdmin, for example, open jos_extensions and identify the id for com_xmap, then open jos_menu and locate the menu item COM_XMAP_TITLE and see if the parent_id of this item is that one in jos_extensions.
In your case it is probably equal to 0. If it is so then change it to the one in jos_extensions.
