zOOm Media Gallery

zOOm 1.5 is a Joomla 1.5 native update of the popular zOOm Media Gallery. Although it was originally released as a free extension, we want to compensate the huge work we have dedicated to this version by restricting it's download previleges to donant users for a certain time.

We have set a minimum amount of $10 to download the file only, and $20 to receive special support through our forum. Logging in, your donation will be automatically detected and you will be able to proceed according to it.

How to donate

Donations are made either from your PayPal account or your credit card. It is a secure, fast and easy method to transfer money into someone's PayPal account. If you want to donate please follow these instructions:

  • If you are not already logged in, please start your session as a registered user.
  • Click on the image to the right to make your donation with PayPal.
  • Once your $10 or higher donation is done, you should be redirected to our site as a previleged user ready to download our new zOOm component.

zOOm Media Gallery is a complete gallery component with many commonly-requested features.

The admin interface provides a highly configurable panel that makes it easy to style your Galleries and a multiple file upload function that can save your time. With Java, you can even drag and drop the pictures. Another feature allows gallery viewers to 'zoom in' on a picture to see more details. In addition, it records the number of hits, users ratings and comments for each item, and the mainpage includes a menu for your most recent, most viewed, top rated and last commented images.

    i've already donated you the fund, but can not find any native version for J1.5,
    can you please send these to my by email? for detailed email address, please
    check my registry info. on your site.

    Meanwhile, do you have the module - zoom menu ??? i found that on the author's
    site, but it does not work with Joomla 1.5 anyway, can you show me some clues
    how to fix the bug??? :0

    Forced "donation" for Open Source

    So I suppose all online retailers need to change their terminology. If I buy a
    LInksys wireless routher for $60... the store is really just requiring a
    donation of $60. But if I paid twice that then I'd get special support.

    How about this for an Open Source idea: It's freely downloadable and for $20 it
    gets you support for a year. Please stop calling this open source, bafoon.

    First of all, Open Source is not synonymous of FREE, you can read a little about
    Open Source here:

    Second: It is ZMG is Open Source, i did download it, I modified it and now I'm
    sharing my work with others. :D A few months ago I released the first version of
    ZMG for Joomla 1.5 for free. I spent a lot of hours on that because I needed it
    for one site, and then I decided to share it. My purpose wasn't to give any
    support or to fix any bug on that version. But many people liked it and asked me
    for a native version and that required a lot more of work. I'm going to make it
    free soon and also I want to provide a little of support for this great
    component.

    You are welcome to download our free version of ZMG for Joomla 1.5 in our
    download area, and also you can modify it because it is Open Source or you can
    download the original version of ZMG at http://www.zoomfactory.org

    We are not forcing anyone to donate, if you don't want to support our work and
    just want to enjoy it, then just wait for it to become free as our many others
    downloads.

    I am hesitant to donate

    I appreciate the script, but I am hesitant and have little faith for donating.
    The reason is, on the rc4 version the code isn't complete. There is no way to
    save a newly created gallery. There is no "save" button or anything. I'm
    afraid if I get the latest version, that this might be the case.

    How am I to be assured your script works? thanks in advance.

    Open Source doesn't mean free

    I have to agree with Guillermo, open source doesn’t mean free, it means the
    source code is open for modification, there are many fee base open source
    projects.

    I think $10 is fare amount compared to the work and time Guillermo has invested
    in the project.

    My question is: I can't download ZMG 1.5 native because I can't find it.. I've

    Hi, if you donated and you wasn't logged in into the site, then you should send
    me the transaction id number using our contact us form.

    I dig give you the privileges to download the package manually. So please go to
    our download section and you'll see the native version there.

    Kind of lame donation process

    I donated but can't find the link to download the native, recently updated
    version with bug fixes like the missing Save button in the Gallery Manager.

    I'm cool with paying for modifications to open source software. I don't work for
    free, either. I expect to get access to a product as soon as I pay for it,
    though.

    FYI, I logged out of this site and back again thinking I might get an updated
    token. Nada. :/

    Cool, thanks. I hope others appreciate the work you put into this. I found out
    in another thread that this is for Joomla 1.5 native. Unfortunately, the site I
    need to patch is 1.0.15.

    However, I really need to upgrade the site anyway, so I'll get to use your ZMG
    version in the near future. I'll let you know if I have any comments or
    suggestions.

    Also, I have confirmed that I can download the component now. Thanks for
    updating my account.

    Future of ZMG

    I wrote this a few days ago but my comment seems to have dissapeared.

    Guilleva, I am wondering if you will continue developing ZMG for Joomla 1.5 or
    if your aim is simply to get it stable?

    It seems the original developers of ZMG are no longer supporting it. I need to
    make a decide soon which gallery component to use when upgrading to Joomla 1.5.

    Hi, we had a problem with our database a few days ago and we had to use a
    previous backup. :s

    I'm going to keep working on this version fixing as many bugs as I can to make
    it a very stable version of ZMG and I'll add some new features.

    I cannot tell you for how long I'm going to be keep working on this, but right
    now I'm not thinking on leave it. I have a big list of improvements on which I'm
    working on. Then, I'm to publish this version in the Joomla Extensions
    Directory. So, for now, there is no a closer end for this version. ;)

    If you follow the donation instructions described in the article, after the
    donation just go the downloads section and the file should be available to
    download. But, if you wasn't registered when you donated, then you should
    contact me at guille at vargas dot co dot cr and I'll associate the donation
    with your user account in few minutes or hours.

    About this and next versions

    Hi, the current version doesn't have any new feature compared with the latest
    ZMG official release, it only is a version of ZMG that works with Joomla 1.5 in
    native mode. Right now I'm working on new features and some enhancements based
    on people suggestions. That new release will be released soon to contributors.

    You can easily migrate from any previous version by copying the tables and image
    folder to your new website.

    I'd like to thank to everyone who have donated because in that way I know people

    The tree structure does not show up (just says loading) in the gallery section.
