Free extensions for Joomla!

Hi, I really need help with the global news module. I need to set a background image for an instance of the module. I have set it in the xml file correctly under the content area background color but I need help how to hack the other files as well so that when I insert an image from the backend of the module as a background image would be visible instead of the content area background color.
