virtuemart menu BE missing

Hi,
I suddenly lost my virtuemart menu under components (backend). The threat here http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=95542.0 tells me its due to XMAP.
Uninstalling XMAP did not fix the problem.
Any suggestions?
