Tag Troubles
I've been loving this module, which is (mostly) working perfectly on my site (http://stillpointdigital.com). It's driving both my main front page feed and several WP category/tag feeds elsewhere.
Two problems, both related to tags:
It sounds as if these are not typical problems, though I think I'm running a fairly typical setup.
I'm running Joomla 2.5,7 and WordPress 3.3.1.
Any thoughts?
Two problems, both related to tags:
- I can't get any of the "Allowed Tags" to work--not links, not paragraphs, not formatting. I get a single block of unformatted text. The featured image pops up, and the "Read More" link... but that's it.
- When I leave the "Allowed Tags" populated, the unclosed tags seem to mess with everything below them on the page. In fact, I was troubleshooting for a couple of hours yesterday because the menu column in my Joomla layout had disappeared; I tracked it down to the "Allowed Tags"--I'm assuming that unclosed <p> or <div> tags created problems further down.

Re: Tag Troubles
Hello,
I'm a little confused: first you say that the "Allowed tags" don't work and then you say that it causes unclosed tags.
I can tell that it works. When you put <strong><i> in it, for example, the text will keep all strong and italic tags. The problem to use that feature are in fact the possible unclosed tags when the text limit is applied, and there is not much more we can do to prevent that risk.
Do you think it would help if we add an option to show the post's whole excerp (or introtext) instead of the cut of text?

Actually, yes, that would be a great idea!

I had the whole range of allowed tags added originally, with an 800-character limit. When that was true, none of the formatting showed up on the posts, but the blocks below the module were affected as if the formatting and, more importantly, structural tags like <p> and <div> had in fact been opened, but never closed. This played havoc with the rest of my page.
I hadn't thought of trying without the limit, silly me. I need to think if I want to have longer stories uncut on the front page or not. I'll play with it.
Currently I have only two tags in the allowed tags field: <a> and <br />. If you look on my front page (http://stillpointdigital.com), the top story includes both hyperlinks and line breaks in the chunk of text that is displayed, and yet neither shows up. I don't know if I'm missing a setting somewhere--I didn't think so.

Re: Tag Troubles
Have you tried using <a><br> in the field (not <br />)?
Anyway, I have just updated the module so you can choose to display the unaltered excerpt or introtext instead. Just download and install the current version if you would like to try that.

Perfect! Thank you so much. Combined with corePHP's WordPress Blog plugin, I've now got the format flexibility of Joomla and the content ease of WordPress. Yay!
